President's Update March 2013
Our Centenary Season is fast approaching and we could not have got off to a better start with the fantastic news of our brilliant new sponsorship deal with Foster’s which will bring in £10,000 over the next two years to our League's finances. We are very pleased to have them on board and to be part of their "Good Call" advertising campaign I am sure our clubs are looking forward to working with our new sponsors and the benefits that will be mutually beneficial to both parties. I must at this point thank our previous league sponsors Towergate for their financial backing and support over the last seven years and wish them and in particular, Richard Turner, all the best for the future.
Our New Website has been constructed during the close season and final technical checks and trial runs are being undertaken at present.
PLEASE NOTE - this New Website will replace our existing site and should be operational around the 15 April 2013. Please be patient during the transitional period and all clubs will be updated at the April League Meeting.
This New Website is again another exciting step forward for us in this our 100th season as our League was formed and first played in season 1914. Congratulations to the 4 clubs, Greetland, Sowerby Bridge, Stainland and Triangle, who were all original members and are still with us today.
We still operate an entirely amateur league with all 30 clubs running two open age teams on Saturdays, and a number of clubs running three teams playing in our Sunday Section. Junior cricket also plays a major role within our League and clubs can operate teams from Under 9 through to Under 17. If you would like to play cricket or be involved in any way in our League please visit our member clubs or email our officers for help and information.
The run of cold, wet weather still dominates and I know it is not helping our grounds or our groundsmen who suffered unprecedented hardship in 2012. I know that all our member clubs are run by dedicated, hardworking, cricket loving volunteers who will be working hard to ensure our Centenary Season is ready for the off on the 20 April.
Enjoy your Foster's Halifax Cricket League experience.
